A superb new Indian restaurant has opened on Pepper Street, Chester, by a family who bring so much experience, passion, flair and quality to the city’s ever-growing food and drink scene.
Amni Restaurant has been open for just a few weeks and has already been fully embraced by Chester’s local food lovers and visitors alike.
At the heart of Amni Restaurant is a family led by Kabir, a culinary mastermind who heads the kitchen. His wife, Farida, and their children, Sadia, Jamilah, and Hamzah, along with nephew Kalim, are the pillars of the front of the house, delivering exceptional hospitality seven days a week. This family’s dedication ensures a fabulous new, independent dining experience for the city centre.
The family owned and operated a much-loved restaurant on the Wirral for many years but always had an eye on Chester city centre. After spotting it empty on a shopping trip late last year, they moved swiftly into the Pepper Street venue.
As a united family, they have crafted a unique menu of exquisite Indian dishes, each one a unique masterpiece elevated to the highest standard. The ingredients are authentic and the very best, and they are committed to sourcing locally whenever possible. A recent collaboration with Cheshire Farm Ice Cream has resulted in a bespoke dessert flavour, a delightful addition to their soon-to-be-revealed menu.
Eldest daughter Sadia (Khanom), who helps out at weekends, is also an award-winning young scientist who invented a ‘breakthrough’ spray to fight COVID-19. NASA is now using it after it was developed in her parents’ restaurant. Jamilah, who also helps run the floor, is an international business student, and Hamzah, who is six years old, is a Chester restauranteur in the making!
This is a return to Pepper Street for Kabir, who worked at Shere Khan restaurant in his early 20s and vowed to return one day with his own business. It is a real win for the city that his dream has come true, and his family is also involved in helping deliver his concept.
Amni is an affectionate word meaning auntie or a much-loved family member who brings a whole family together with food, love, and hospitality—so it is the perfect name for this wonderful restaurant, which is winning the hearts of local food lovers from all over the city and much further afield.
