THERE IS STILL TIME TO SIGN UP TO RUN THE MBNA CHESTER MARATHON & METRIC MARATHON

JOIN US ON SUNDAY 8TH OCTOBER 2023

If you have a bubbling desire to push yourself to achieve more and run a marathon, YOU CAN DO IT and there is still time to enter our award-winning MBNA Chester Marathon & Metric Marathon on Sunday 8th October 2023.

Our race event is a dual event giving you two ways to achieve running greatness!

You can choose between the full marathon 26.2 miles or the Metric Marathon which is 26.2 kilometres or 16.3 miles. There is still time to train and prepare for either race option.

Chester is the most beautiful city in the UK (not that we’re biased in anyway). Therefore, all our local runners have two of the greatest advantages when it comes to training. Why do you ask? Well, who isn’t motivated by our stunning city and picturesque villages in the rolling Welsh and English Countryside.

Living locally, you can also benefit from the extra motivation of our monthly group training run, they are literally on your doorstep! These are great sessions which are FREE and give you the opportunity to run with and spend a Sunday morning once a month with like-minded individuals, who are just like you are training to run a marathon or metric marathon. At these sessions you’ll also get the opportunity to run in groups with race pacers and ask the team for advice about your training plan.

Training Run Dates:

  • Sunday 6th August
  • Sunday 3rd September
  • Sunday 1st October

Our training runs start from Little Roodee Car Park, Chester CH1 1SL at 09:00. The distances and pace vary for each session and more details can be found on our website. These sessions are for everyone, so make sure you come and join in the fun!

Here’s a few reasons why you should take on either the MBNA Chester Marathon or Metric Marathon.

  • The metric marathon It is the perfect and less daunting distance to start your marathon journey, especially for newer runners or those training to increase their race miles. It is an achievable steppingstone from the Half Marathon to the full Marathon.
  • Once you’ve completed a Marathon you’ve got automatic bragging rights as a marathon runner. You’ve done it and the likelihood is that you’ll want to do more marathons in the future.
  • Achieve that lifelong ambition. Don’t put it off – Live it! For some it’s a major lifetime goal that or may not be achieved. Our advice is don’t let it be your one regret. Instead, tick it off the list and bathe in the satisfaction of finally achieving it your running goal. It’s not a coincidence that this is one of the main reasons why people run a marathon, so you’re in very good company.
  • Raise money for charity. Use your training, dedication, and determination to help support a worthy cause. Running a marathon is an amazing feat and so it is raising money for one of many charities who desperately need funds. Combine the two and you’re onto a winner! Knowing you’re running goal will give others hope is a great motivator, especially the tough training days.
  • Experience something new A marathon experience is one like no other. Yes, it’s hard work, gruelling, but it is fun, rewarding, fulfilling and you get to do something you haven’t done before. A marathon can be a rollercoaster of emotions, both during training and one race day, but come the finish line that feeling of success will be one like you’ve never had before.
  • Improve your fitness. Training for a marathon will inevitably boost your general health and fitness. Running is great for improving cardiovascular fitness and bone density and combined with other complementary activities such as such as yoga, swimming and cycling can lead to increased muscle strength and flexibility.
  • Put yourself to the test and create great habits. Researchers have identified that regular running could contribute to success in other areas of life. The planning, hard work and commitment that goes into training for a marathon can help to improve character development, so by becoming a regular runner you could gain these additional benefits. A study of runners preparing for a marathon found that regular training improved people’s goal setting, organisational skills, and discipline in the workplace and outside it, so there’s another reason to run a marathon if you needed one.
