This is such a great way to spend time catching up on the gossip with lots of different nibbles to graze on over a leisurely, informal lunch or dinner, or maybe a cheeky couple of glasses on a weekend afternoon (how very civilised!).
We have curated our favourite selection of fabulous food and drink sharers from around the city, into one super-handy guide for you all to enjoy. These delicious food and drink experiences are always great value, and the perfect way to spend quality time with our nearest and dearest without breaking the bank.

The Townhouse Secret Garden
We absolutely love The Townhouse! This is such a special place for me – an oasis in the heart of the city where there’s always a massive welcome and something fabulous going on! The Sharing Boards are amazing, and there’s so much choice: Chicken and pork, Beef and duck, (my favourite), Vegetarian and Vegan. This is the perfect destination for that all-important catch up with your nearest and dearest (and the cocktails are great too).
Artezzan, Pepper Street
Artezzan Restaurant and Bar on Pepper Street, take an authentic approach to Mediterranean-inspired dining, serving modern, super fresh and totally delicious menus. They have two gorgeous sharing platters on their menu, recommended for two people. The Fritto Misto includes King prawns, calamari, scallops and whitebait fried in seasoned flour and served with courgette fritti, fresh lemon and homemade aioli -it makes you feel like you’re dining on a sun-drenched beach somewhere far, far away.
Next is the Charcuterie board with bresaola, salami Milano and prosciutto, served with spiced pickles, extra virgin olive oil and toasted focaccia. A concoction of flavours that will instantly transport you to warm Summer evenings in the Med.
Barlounge, Watergate Street
Barlounge is always a firm favourite for everything food and drink. Their Bites & Boards section includes a mini selection of everyone’s favourite small dishes, including their infamous baby sausages (with a honey and mustard sticky glaze), a cheesy garlic and herb calzone and so much more.
Also available is the Barlounge Platter, perfect for 2 or 3 people featuring chicken skewers, edamame beans, baby sausages, roasted red pepper & Romesco humous, firecracker crispy king prawns, cheesy garlic & herb calzone and skin-on fries.
Burger Shed 41, Bridge Street
Renowned for their incredible burgers, sides and shakes – Burger Shed 41 on Upper Bridge Street is a real favourite amongst Chester diners of all ages.
They have two awesome sharing box options available, the first being a selection of their best selling sides. The Sides Box includes cajun pulled pork, mixed fries with garlic mayo, cheeseburger crinkle-cut fries with mustard and BBQ sauce, salt & pepper mozzarella sticks, chicken wings, popcorn chicken and rindwurst sausage. All served with four of their delicious dips for just £22.
The second option is the Shed Sharer Box which includes two cheeseburgers, 8 hot wings, mozzarrella sticks, chicken fajita fries, chilli con carne fries and four dips – all for just £30. WOW!

Duttons, Godstall Lane
Duttons, a much-loved restaurant and bar located on Godstall Lane in Chester City Centre, is well known for fantastic, fresh food to share. They have two gorgeous sharing boards on their menu for you to choose from – including a pretty awesome vegan option.
Their Vegan Board is made up of pea & mint fritters with curry mayonnaise, steamed gyoza dumplings filled with oriental vegetables & a side of plum sauce, and houmous with chilli relish & crispy fried tortilla.
The Duttons Grazing Board consists of panko fried calamari rings with aioli dip & lime, salt and pepper chicken fries with mint yoghurt and sriracha, Dutton’s dirty fries topped with pulled pork and cheddar melt. Totally delicious!
Hickory’s, Chester River Front
Hickory’s Smokehouse, located on Chester’s idyllic River Front, offers a totally authentic experience of the Deep South of America. Their kitchen features smokers imported from Missouri & Tennessee, and are shipped 4000 miles across the Atlantic!
Their Smokehouse Platter features all the Hickory’s classics, including grain-fed Texas-style beef brisket, Memphis-style baby back ribs, BBQ baby back ribs, smoked pork, jalapeno and cheese sausage, BBQ hand-pulled pork, eight-hour smoked jacobs ladder and bourbon glazed slow-smoked chicken wings. All Served with skin-on fries, house slaw, pickles & Tennessee bourbon gravy for just £47.
It really is as epic as it sounds!
The Suburbs, Hoole
The Suburbs Bar & Eaterie in Hoole really helped put Hoole on the food and drink map when they opened over six years ago – and they’re still going strong! A welcoming and friendly venue with an incredible selection of dishes and tipples on offer.
We recommend the Meat, Cheese & Bread board including beautiful sliced Italian cured meats, homemade Biltong, cheese, olives and fabulously fresh focaccia bread, perfect for nibbling on with one of their super-duper cocktails. We also love the steak platter for two (with fries, smokey tomato, roast mushroom and jus) and the confit duck legs (with pancakes and Asian salad) makes a great sharing option too!
The Old Dukes, Belltower Walk
The Old Dukes, located on Belltower Walk next to Chester Cathedral, is Chester’s very own multi-floored sports bar and restaurant all rolled into one. Serving up top home-cooked American-style grub, fantastic cocktails and with endless entertainment throughout the venue – this place is a must-visit!

The Veggie Board is made up of some seriously yummy Jalapeno poppers, mozzarella sticks, macaroni bites, salad and fries. The Fish Tank includes whitebait, calamari, oysters, green lip mussels, fish goujons, old bay seasoning, lemon tartar sauce & fries. And finally comes the incredible Sliders Platter – two cheeseburgers, two meatball sandwiches, two fried chicken burgers, Boerwors sausages & fries. YUM!
PicNic, Northgate Street
PicNic is a Mediterranean-style independent restaurant and bar, based on Chester’s Northgate Street.
Their food menu is a real delight, with their dishes receiving high praise from diners far and wide. They started out in 2019 with sharing boards being their thing, and their incredible PicNic Sharing Board has stood the test of time as it still has pride of place on the menu today.
This is a beautifully presented selection of delights including truffled marinated mozzarella, cured meats, cheeses, antipasti, breads and chutneys – perfect for any occasion.
The Boathouse, Chester River Front
The Boathouse is a gorgeous pub and restaurant located directly on Chester’s beautiful River Dee. Their home-cooked food and wonderful selection of drinks, combined with the stunning venue and idyllic setting, really makes for the ultimate dining experience.
They serve a really good grazing board that can be enjoyed for one or for two if you’re fancying a lighter option. It features salt & pepper squid with chilli & coriander dipping sauce, their famous messy chips, Spanish olives, houmous, hand fried tortilla and chilli relish.
