Oak & Smoke, Bridge Trafford
Just outside the hustle and bustle of Chester, in the beautiful countryside of Bridge Trafford and located in the back garden of their sister business The Chester Fields, lies Oak & Smoke. A new venture based upon a simple idea of ‘real food, cooked on a real fire!’. Their belief is that when connected to the great outdoors, food seems to taste better somehow.
They are currently in the process of growing and developing, and offer some absolutely top-notch wood fired pizza for both collection and local delivery. They’ve also created a magical outdoor space for guests to gather, enjoy their food and those fabulous views over the Cheshire plains.
Their pizza menu is absolutely fabulous and it’s very hard to choose, but if we had to pick.. We’d be going for ‘The Cheeky Tikka’. Made with their own Tikka Sauce, Juicy Chicken Thighs, Mint * Red Onion Relish, Micro Coriander, Natural Yoghurt, A Pot of Mango Chutney and some extra Onion Bhajis thrown in too! Doesn’t that sound incredible?! It really is!
Urbano 32, Bridge Street
Kicking the guide off nicely with one of the best in the business, is Urbano 32! Located in the middle of upper Bridge Street, this place is renowned for its unbeatable pizzas, incredible service and stunning industrial-esque interior. With the option to dine both inside or alfresco on their terrace, this place is a must-visit whatever the weather.
Urbano32 serves sourdough pizzas alongside antipasti and daily specials using only the freshest quality ingredients. Their menu has a progressive approach towards pizza, and they are committed to sourcing great seasonal and local produce.
We would highly recommend their ‘The Goat’ pizza, topped with Portobello Mushroom, Mozzarella, Goats Cheese, Truffle Oil and Rosemary – it really is as delicious as it sounds!
Stile Napoletano, Watergate Street
Located under the famous Chester Rows on Watergate Street, Stile Napoletano at 49 Watergate Street is the second venue of award-winning pizza chef Giacomo Guido. This beautiful Neapolitan style pizzeria has thrived since it’s opening and has received nothing but top-rated reviews from all that have dined here.
Their pizzas are created using pure, organic ingredients from Italy, alongside quality local produce. You’ll be spoiled for choice on what to go for, whilst offering the classics and calzone, they’ve also got a nice selection of their own topping concoctions that simply cannot be missed.
WLGT recommends the ‘Salsiccia Broccoli E Nduja’ pizza – topped with Broccoli, Neapolitan Sausage, Nduja (spicy Calabrian soft meat), smoked mozzarella and parmesan. Fabulous!

Artezzan Restaurant & Bar
It’s all about Gimmy!
The fabulous Pizzaiola at Artezzan knows a thing or two about making delicious, hand-stretched stone baked pizza. It’s all about the flour he says – and Gimmy uses a very special and totally unique flour ratio to create a larger dough. I have honestly never tasted tomato sauce like it, and Gimmy’s perfect pizzas are cooked in one seriously epic pizza oven, bespoke made for Artezzan in Italy and shipped all the way here. They have a whole menu dedicated to everyone’s favourite Italian staple, but I just love the simplicity and complete perfection their Margherita Classico, because of those incredible tomatoes!
Dough Dough, Northgate Street
A love of traditional Neapolitan pizzas was the spark that inspired the creation of Dough Dough. First opening its doors in 2019, the pizzeria quickly became a favourite to residents of Chester and those visiting the city!
What separates them from the rest is how freshly prepared all of their ingredients are. Before cooking in a traditional wood-fired oven, they raise their signature dough over 24 hours to offer diners the perfect Neapolitan pizzas: with the freshest, thinnest base and a delicious puffed up cornicione (crust).
Our personal favourite has to be the ‘Ortolana’ pizza, a vegetarian option that can also be served as a vegan option. Topped with delicious Tomato, Mozzarella, Courgette, Aubergiene, Black Olives, Roast Peppers, Basil and Evo Oil! Go check it out!
Ring O’ Bells, Christleton
The Ring O’ Bells in Christleton, just a short drive from the city centre, is another venue that’s well known for their fantastic pizzas, welcoming atmosphere and homely vibes. Their hand stretched pizzas are made using Fior Di Latte Mozzarella & San Marzano Tomatoes, truly delicious and so fresh to taste!
They’ve a fantastic array of pizzas to choose from, and even offer 2-4-1 on pizzas every Wednesday, what are you waiting for?!
WLGT recommends the delicious ‘Pollo Picante’ pizza, topped with Tomato, Fior Di Latte, Jalapeños, Chorizo, Pepperoni, Chicken! Wow!
Barlounge, Watergate Street
Everybody’s favourite hangout, Barlounge on Watergate Street, offer a small selection of truly delicious Sicilian style pizzas – and they are definitely not to be missed. Teamed with one of their stunning (and oh-so Instagrammable) cocktails, these pizzas would be perfect and best enjoyed in some Summer sunshine with friends or loved ones.
They offer a classic Tomato & Mozzerella, or if you’re feeling a little more adventurous, we’d strongly suggest trying the ‘Crispy Duck’ pizza. Topped with Crispy Duck, Hoisin Sauce, Pickled Cucumber, Spring Onion and Coriander. It’s Epic!
The Deva Tap, Brook Street
The Deva Tap, located on the incline to Hoole Bridge at Brook Street, is a gorgeous little hidden gem that specialise in their drinks offerings and the food is just as delicious! Their pizzas are made in house, and are the perfect pairing for their excellent selection of drinks.
They make the ULTIMATE (and very naughty) pepperoni pizza, you really cannot beat a classic can you?!
Get yourself down and grab a ‘pizza the action!’
