Forget 2020 - get ready for 2021!
This is one of my favourite events of the whole year! I absolutely love the Taste Cheshire Food & Drink Festival, it is certainly one of the city’s annual highlights and I know how many of you missed it desperately last year, myself included. I cannot wait for this year’s event. I know my great friends at Taste Cheshire are working hard in the background to ensure that 2021 is bigger and better than ever before, complete with those all-important Covid safety measures.
One thing is for sure, Stephen and the team always pull it right out of the bag when it comes to booking the Chefs. In 2018 we welcomed both Chris Bavin and Paul Rankin to the festival, so it’s great news they will both be returning in 2021 for this epic occasion.
Chris Bavin has hardly been off our TV screens recently, co-presenting Eat Well for Less, Britain’s Best Home Cook (including the Celebrity special most recently), Britain in Bloom, Food: Truth or Scare – he is one of the presenters on Tomorrow’s Food as well as a multitude of consumer affairs programmes, all shown on BBC One. He was great fun in 2018, and we cannot wait to welcome him back for 2021.
Paul Rankin is a true veteran of food. He was the first chef to win a Michelin star in Northern Ireland for his restaurant Roscoff in 1989, which quickly became the go-to hang out for foodies from miles around. A true champion of local produce and seasonality, he joined Ready Steady Cook in 1999 and has now written several cookery books as well as appearing on many cooking shows, including Great British Menu. It was a true pleasure to show case him in 2018, and I am super-excited to find out what he’ll be cooking for us this time round.
Brand new to the festival this year is John Torode, who moved to the UK in the 1990s and began working at Conran Group’s restaurants. After first appearing on ITV’s This Morning, he started presenting a revamped MasterChef on BBC One in 2005, and of course he is still there today, and who doesn’t absolutely love Masterchef? We were lucky enough to have welcomed his trusty sidekick Gregg Wallace to the festival for three years on the run, and now it is time for John to venture to Chester and WOW us all with his awesome Asian inspired cookery. I cannot wait to meet him.
In addition to the stellar chef line up, there will be cooking masterclasses for all (including BBQ), over 150 fabulous food and drink stalls, the legendary sausage competition and so much more.
Get the dates in your diary, tell your friends and family, buy your tickets and I will see you there!
Taste Cheshire Food & Drink Festival takes place at Chester Racecourse over August Bank Holiday weekend, 28th, 29th & 30th August 2021.
