Chester Zoo – Free Wildlife Connections Festival

Chester Zoo's Wildlife Connections Festival is back with a bigger and better line up than ever!

Organisers at the zoo say the two-day event will fuse family fun with serious conservation and put a much-needed spotlight on the UK’s wonderful wildlife, with 50% of UK native species now in decline.

Much-loved TV presenter Naomi Wilkinson, star of CBBC shows including Live and Deadly, Naomi’s Nightmares of Nature and Wild and Weird, will deliver an interactive stage show created especially for the festival, based on her adventures around the world and her love of UK species.

Festivalgoers will also be able to get up-close-and-personal with a wide range of wildlife through an array of hands-on activities, including bug hunting, bird spotting and pond dipping, as part of the jam-packed line up.

Join their FREE event on 18 and 19 September for a jam-packed line up at the zoo’s 14 acre Nature Reserve.

There's over 27,000 animals and 125 acres of Zoological gardens to explore

We are Chester Zoo – a conservation and education charity committed to preventing extinction. Chester Zoo is a registered conservation & education charity that is working to prevent extinction all around the world. We are the most visited zoo in the UK; home to over 27,000 animals & more than 500 different species.

We have 27,000 animals, in 125 acres of award-winning zoological gardens and 1.86 million people who come to visit every year. We work hard because we love animals, we care about nature, we love Chester Zoo and we want to be the best conservation charity in the world! As a registered charity we need your support to raise funds for the care and conservation of our animals, and other endangered species across the globe.

We support 80 conservation projects wordwide, from helping villagers in Assam resolve their problems with elephants ruining their crops and livelihoods, to helping protect the tiny harvest mouse on our doorstep in Cheshire. We constantly strive to improve the lives of the animals in our care through detailed and specialist design and planning of new enclosures, to create natural habitats and improved breeding facilities like Monsoon Forest, the largest zoological building in the UK.

Our discovery & learning team work to reach children in the UK and, further afield, the team are supporting a project in Mkomazi, Tanzania, working on a education package to bring local school children closer to their own native wildlife in the National Parks.

This is just a flavour of the many and varied projects we run and support, but to do all of this we need your help, however small to continue to achieve our mission and create a better future for all our children.
