If you thought The Hollies couldn't get any better? Think again!
I absolutely love The Hollies Farm Shop. This is most definitely one of our Cheshire gems, and it has grown into so much more than a lovely place to shop for the best food and drink over the years – now spanning two locations in Little Budworth and Lower Stretton.
The Hollies has a wonderful story of humble origins. A true family run business in every sense, can you believe that it all began with an honesty box on the side of the A49 selling home grown produce in 1959? It’s remarkable, and when you look at this outstanding retail success story today, you can see how this forward-thinking family knew about the importance of quality and sustainability, all those years ago.
A trip to The Hollies is always a special experience – and I have left my lockdown anxiety at the door on many occasions over the last year. The stunning array of fruit and veg is dinner inspiration in itself, and the fully traceable butchery and fish counter deliver the best quality, local produce presented so beautifully. And that’s not all …. Planet Doughnut has recently landed with out-of-this-world loveliness, and their ‘to drink’ section is a fully stocked, curated selection of the best booze for miles around – and so much of it is locally produced too. The seasonal displays of cakes, choccies and all-things-nice are magical (I can’t wait to see their Easter egg-stravaganza), and will continue to make you smile even under your mask. The place always smells amazing too with freshly baked breads, sausage rolls and plenty more. The Hollies now work with over 75 local suppliers, farmers, fishermen, growers and all-round food heroes – making it a one-stop-shop for quality, seasonality and consistency.
The Hollies is still however so much more than an award-winning farm shop. Out of lockdown, the terrace – plus a brand new covered al fresco dining area – is always buzzing with happy customers catching up over a delicious, seasonal menu showcasing that wonderful produce from the farm shop – and the superb coffee comes from Chester based aficionados Jaunty Goat, the very best partner to those beautiful fresh bakes from the shop.
The Gift Barn adopts the same ethos of championing local designers and makers as the rest of the estate. Everything on sale is curated with the same love and eye for quality, it even has its very own man cave! From home furnishings and accessories to award winning gifts, this is affordable luxury at its very best.
Fancy a short break away from the madding crowds? The Hollies makes the perfect staycation for everyone seeking a little bit of the good life post lockdown. From Monday 12th April you can enjoy a much-needed getaway in a luxury forest lodge or cabin. This is self catering accommodation set right in the heart of the glorious countryside with the most fabulous food and drink literally on your doorstep – there are no carbon footprints here. With three lodges that sleep up to 6 guests and two lodges sleeping up to 4, these gorgeous boltholes offer a home-from-home escape for that special family holiday, romantic getaway or a catch up with friends. Extras include hampers, arrival gifts, BBQ packs, champagne welcomes and duvet picnics … but maybe I’d book just for me!
And don’t forget the hot tubs ….
