Everyone's favourite neighbourhood bar
Step out of the city and into the The Suburbs.
The Suburbs is located in super-cool Hoole village on Charles Street, about 10 minutes walk from Chester City Centre. When you arrive – you’ll feel their great vibe of edgy & contemporary cool, and immediately know you’re stepping into something a little bit different.
Owned by the King of Lockdown Kingdom Thenga who opened the doors in 2013, this epic venue has been one of Chester’s best loved bars ever since. There are so many reasons why we love it so much including their unwavering passion for what they do and the superb product they deliver – as well as their drive and ambition to keep giving us Chester folk something of great quality and totally unique.
The new reopening menu is something of a triumph. WLGT was lucky enough to be invited to the cook-off (check out our video at the top of this page for the low down on all of their new dishes) and the team had plenty to show off with stunning Colchester Oysters, gorgeous new flavours for the infamous Wings and some delicious new entries with a South African influence (the Bobotie Lamb Fritters with Mrs Ball’s Chutney is simply marvellous!).
The drinks are taken super-seriously here too with a quality back bar full of unusual and premium spirits, liqueurs, beers and wines. Steins are most definitely a thing, and you can sip the very best locally produced seasonal flavoured gins created by the man himself – Kingdom’s Gin is an experience all on its own.
The Sunday Roasts also deserve a special mention as every Sunday they serve the best. With additional sides, superb quality meat from local butchers and bottomless gravy …
The Suburbs counteracted our lock down upset with their super-tasty takeaway service full of comforting classics – wings, burgers and their epic Sunday Roasts. And the really good news is that they’ll be continuing their takeaway service indefinitely, download the app for easy ordering and click-and-collect.
Reopens 17th May.
