Favourite Italian restaurant has returned with a fresh new look
The Yard has made a great name for itself in Chester over the years, and rightly so. More recently, 2020 saw the partnership of one of Chester’s best Chef’s Carl Noller, and The Suburbs Bar & Eaterie founder Kingdom Thenga. Some say this is a match made in hospitality heaven, and we agree.
The Yard has been given a quirky little makeover of the intimate dining area, and the menu has had a revamp too.
The ethos for food here is modern Italian dining, taking original Italian recipes and executing them with a contemporary twist. Every ingredient is sourced as locally as possible to bring you the freshest of flavours. The pasta is homemade daily, and we think it’s the best in town.
One of our favourite dishes is the Bolognese. This isn’t any ordinary Bolognese however, it’s made with Carl’s very special recipe and instead of the standard beef mince, slow-cooked beef cheeks are used. It’s one of those dishes that takes you back down memory lane but surprises you with intense flavours – a grown-up Bolognese. Their traditional Sunday roasts are gorgeous too and come served with a drink included.
On the wine list, you will be taken on a journey through Italy (with a couple of cheeky stops in South Africa!), with wines that have a perfect marriage with the fabulous food on offer. Beyond the wine, you will find a great selection of cocktails, beers, and spirits too.
And if you’re not quite done with your evening out once your meal has finished, we have heard if you give the waiter a wink they will show you somewhere you can have some drinks on the down-low. Shhhhh though, it’s our little secret.
