Refined rather than fine, this stunning dining experience is just as special today as its always been.

This iconic Chester restaurant is steeped in history and heritage. It has recently entered a brand-new chapter in its epic story with the arrival of a dynamic young chef Elliot Hill. Elliot has taken the reigns of all aspects of the food and dining experiences at The Chester Grosvenor, particularly the newly refurbished Arkle restaurant.

Arkle is named after the 1957 Irish thoroughbred racehorse, famous for winning three consecutive Cheltenham Gold Cups in a glittering career. Arkle was bred by Mary Baker of Malahow House, County Dublin, and owned by Anne Grosvenor, Duchess of Westminster, hence the naming of the restaurant.

Elliot is now the custodian of such an important element of the city (and the county’s) burgeoning dining scene, and it is just as special today as it always has been. Refined rather than fine, the Arkle experience is available Wednesday to Saturday evenings from 6pm. The full tasting menu is priced at £105 per person or you may choose to enjoy a slightly shorter 5 course menu for £85 per person.

The wine menu at the Arkle is very special indeed. Head Sommelier Boris is just as passionate about the cellar as Chef Elliot is about his kitchen. The wine flight which perfectly complements the tasting menu is extraordinary and includes the most delightful English fizz, a good selection of natural wines and some great big classics that will surprise and delight the most discerning of guests – expect the unexpected…

From the sublime canapés served in the bar with your aperitif cocktails to the coffee and liqueurs to finish, the Arkle offers an exquisite dining experience to celebrate any occasion – even if it’s simply the love of great food, wine and service in a very special and iconic Chester restaurant.
