Cholmondeley Estate has the stunning castle as its centre piece but there are plenty of other attractions to enjoy there too.
The Cholmondeley family have lived on what is now called the Cholmondeley Estate since Norman times, with the castle built in the early 19th century by the 1st Marquess. Nestled within historic parkland the 70 acres of beautiful gardens offer magnificent displays through the seasons and are filled with colour and botanical delights (open spring to early autumn).
Discover the romantic Temple and Folly Water Gardens, Glade, Arboretum, double herbaceous bordered Lavinia Walk, ornamental woodland upon Tower Hill and the new Cholmondeley Rose Garden with over 800 new plantings creating two very different connected Rose Rooms between old and new. The Castle and gardens also provide a stunning backdrop to a host of great events held throughout the year, offering something for everyone.
The Cholmondeley Arms is adjacent to the estate sitting inside a former Victorian Village Schoolhouse. The Cholmondeley Arms has won many accolades over the years, building a great reputation for freshly cooked, locally sourced food. Its menu is quintessentially English and includes such favourites as ‘Old Traditional Pub Plate to share’ or for your main meal the ‘Hand crafted Steak and Kidney pie’. It also offers well over 300 different gins, local ales brewed within a thirty-mile radius.
During your visit there are plenty of other attractions to enjoy at the estate, including the farm shop and the tearoom. There is also a play area and a picnic area and a variety of events taking place throughout the year, details of which are regularly updated on their website.
