SANDBAR SEAFOOD SHACK IN NEW CHESTER MARKET

I could honestly talk about this awesome food vendor within New Chester Market for hours! I am a massive fan of Martin and his team, who set up in the old market to stonking success, and they haven’t looked back since.

I cannot remember Chester ever having a really great seafood offering, but as small as this operation may be right now, Sandbar Seafood Shack packs a massive punch with seafood lovers for miles around and especially right here in Chester amongst our local foodies.

Martin is, quite simply, a brilliant seafood chef. With a super fresh and tasty menu of signature dishes (the soft-shell crab burger is out of this world) coupled with a mix of totally delish and ever-changing specials, there is always something excellent for everyone.

My favourite dishes include the pint of prawns, oysters with Speyside butter sauce, Shetland mussels, grilled Galician octopus, Frito Misto, golden calamari – and the mackerel pâté is seriously off-the-chart! And seeing as the market opens at 10 am on Sundays, the Kedgeree makes the perfect Sunday brunch dish too.

Fridays have just got so much better for me with the Fish Friday tradition now in full swing. There is nothing better than a proper seafood fix from Sandbar with a glass of Prosecco after a super busy week with WLGT, it is definitely one of my favourite food & drink experiences in the city.
