Beautiful below-ground wine bar located in a 600 year old, crypted cellar right in the heart of Chester
Halfway up Watergate Street you will find an old-fashioned wine bar housed in a stunning 600-year-old cellar. Vin Santo is a one-stop-wine-shop serving amazing wines and spirits to enjoy within this hugely historical location or to buy from the specialist shop.
Just below street level, Vin Santo is a wonderful drinks emporium full of the best quality wines, spirits and champagnes – filling the shelves of a medieval crypt which can tell a thousand stories of Chester through the ages. Today it is a charming place to drink great wines, perfectly accompanied by delicious cheeses (check out the amazing raclette special which returns on the first Thursday in October), bread and charcuterie.
Simon and his team select amazing wines from all over the world as well as source locally produced gins and spirits from award-winning distillers on the Cheshire doorstep. This is a very special place where you can engage with the team and savour the good things in life that won’t break the bank (which is really great news right now!)
On sunny days and early evenings, you can sit and watch the world go by on Vin Santo’s wine terrace on Watergate Street, or venture inside to get cosy with your nearest and dearest as the temperature drops and the nights draw in for Autumn time.
